Jan Spaticchia
Jan is an investor, entrepreneur and personal development specialist who has worked in the UK health and fitness sector since the mid 1980s. He is Chief Executive of BluSky Investments and was co founder of Energie Fitness Group. Jan was formerly the Founder and CEO of HiLife Holdings Plc which he firmly established as one of the fastest growing young health club brands in the UK market between 1999 and 2001 with eight new club openings in under two years. At it’s peak, and prior to Jan’s departure, the business was valued at over £12m. Jan is a well respected industry professional who has presented at major events in both the UK and internationally and has trained and advised some of the UK’s leading leisure operators including Relaxion PLC, Livingwell, SLM, Marriott Hotels and The Whitbread Group. Jan was a Finalist in the 2002 UK Entrepreneur of the Year Awards organised by Ernst and Young and sponsored by City Bank, Vodaphone and the Times Newspaper.

PHILPOTT JOINS BOARD OF ENERGIE FITNESS GROUP

Steve Philpott has joined Energie Fitness as a Director and shareholder to support the Board with its future expansion plans. Energie is part of BluSky Holdings, an investment vehicle set up by entrepreneurs Gian Spaticchia and Peter Sage to exploit new investment opportunities across a range of markets.

Philpott has worked closely with BluSky CEO Spaticchia over the past year in helping to develop the brand and formulate the strategy and acquisition plans for the company.

"Energie has only been in existence for a little over six months - but what a start ! We have exciting plans for the company and I'm delighted to have played a part in the early development of the business," said Philpott.

Spaticchia comments, "Steve has already brought his tremendous experience and knowledge of our industry to the Energie team and I'm delighted he has agreed to join our Board. We have a robust strategy which is designed to take advantage of current market conditions. Steve will play a critical role in helping to implement our plans".

Steve was the former head of David Lloyd Leisure and Crown Sports plc and holds a number of posts in the industry. He is Chief Executive of Face to Face Retention Systems and Training, as well as holding several Directorships including Audio-Visual Leisure Products Limited, the Fitness Industry Association, the Register of Exercise Professionals and the Fitness Alliance.

ENERGIE GEARS UP FOR CHANGE

Energie Fitness Ltd this week completed the first stage of an ambitious plan to create a new and successful fitness and lifestyle corporation. It intends to build the new enterprise from the embers of those fitness companies that have failed to withstand market pressures in recent times. Energie, who bought the Hilife group out of liquidation, have now disposed of the clubs at Ipswich and Liscombe , Bucks for an undisclosed profit. They have reached an accommodation with Club Ventura at Redditch to transfer former Hilife members to that club and have retained clubs at both Leighton Buzzard and Canterbury for long term development supported by new investment. S M Director of Energie Ltd said, "We believe there are unrivalled opportunities in the current market place. The market place has changed and it demands a higher level of flexibility and a greater appetite for diversity than ever before. We expect to acquire four new clubs from other operators in the coming weeks and I can honestly say only one or two of them may need the Energie formula for long-term growth within a corporate environment. Others may be ideal for a single operator and some may benefit from an ….. Franchise deal. We are enabling people who can think outside the ….. and indeed who can bring new perspectives to the industry. We are not looking for fast growth in terms of Club Ventura but rather high club turnover from which we can both generate income and invest in those clubs that meet our Energie criteria."
